"Sources of Belonging" explores the simultaneity of different (individual and cultural) memories that can be used to (pre)form our identity. The work is part of my PhD research project at Hasselt University and the PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt, Belgium, funded by the Special Research Fund (BOF) of Hasselt University (BOF21DOC04).
The objects are designed through digital intersections between historical treasures from museum collections (from the Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim, Germany), flea market finds, and personal pieces.
The project is still in progress.
First results were displayed during the exhibition "MIDTERM" at MAD Gallery (PXL-MAD School of Arts Hasselt, Belgium) in September 2023. The final group of objects will be presented during the exhibition 'Visions, Ventures & Valuables' during Munich Jewellery Week 2024.
